1.FUNCTION:
(1). It is mainly used to inhibit the growing of microbe in food.
(2). In the daily living, it can be used to prevent the mildew for soy, wine, edible vinegar and salted vegetables. Only adding 0.1 percent into them, you will find that their taste is better.
(3). In freezing and cold storing foods, especially fish and shrimp, soaking them in the solution of potassiuM sorbate(0.3%) for 30 seconds, they can keep their original and individual taste.
2.PROPERTIES:
Potassium sorbate was first discovered in the mountain ash tree, it is a variation of sorbic acid, a polyunsaturated fat. As a potassium salt, potassium sorbate is used as a food preservative and is now produced synthetically. This preservative breaks down into water and carbon dioxide in your body, according to the Center for Science in the Public Interest.
3.APPLICATIONS:
(1). Potassium Sorbate Food Grade is a chemical food preservative. Its anti-microbial properties stop the growth and spread of harmful bacteria. When used correctly, it inhibits bacterial growth in colostrum and milk. It can also be used to preserve antibody levels in ‘gold’ (first milking) colostrum.
(2). Potassium Sorbate Food Grade is not a broad spectrum preservative for cosmetic use and should be combined with other preservatives. If potassium sorbate is used as a preservative, the pH of the finished product may need to be reduced for potassium sorbate to be effective. This is because potassium sorbate is the inactive salt form of sorbic acid. To be useful, the pH of the formulation must be low enough to release the free acid for useful activity.
