Classification of polypropylene monofilament fibers

Polypropylene fiber is a synthetic fiber spun from isotactic polypropylene obtained by propylene polymerization. Its trade name in China is polypropylene fiber.
Polypropylene fiber can be divided into long fiber, short fiber, spun bonded non-woven fabric, melt blown non-woven fabric, etc.
Polypropylene long fiber can be divided into ordinary long fiber and fine denier long fiber (monofilament size ≤ 2.2 dtex, which can be used to produce filament products for clothing, decoration and some industries. Polypropylene fine denier long fiber has good luster, soft feel, good drapability and low density. It is suitable for the knitting industry. When interwoven with cotton, viscose silk, real silk, spandex, etc. into cotton cap polypropylene, silk cap polypropylene and other products, it is an ideal material for making high-grade sportswear, T-shirt, etc.
The production process of polypropylene staple fiber mostly adopts porous, low-speed and continuous process, i.e. staple spinning process. Polypropylene staple fiber can be blended with cotton to make polypropylene cotton fine cloth and bed sheet, i.e. fiber and viscose can be blended to make blanket, polypropylene pure spinning and blended wool, polypropylene wool blanket, carpet, polypropylene cotton wadding and cigarette filter. The thickness of fiber for sanitary products is 1.5-2.5dtex, On the other hand, the thickness of fibers used for aboveground fabrics is 5-10 dtex. The length of fibers is 1.5-200.0 mm, depending on the use of fibers. The length of short fibers used for concrete is 1.5-200.0 mm, the length used for diapers is generally 40.0 mm, and the length used for aboveground fabrics is 60.0 mm.
Spun bonded non-woven fabric, also known as filament non-woven fabric, is made by extrusion spinning, stretching, mesh laying and bonding after melting polypropylene raw materials. It has the characteristics of short process, low cost, high productivity, excellent product performance and wide application. Polypropylene non-woven fabric is widely used in various fields of production and life (such as disposable medical and health products, disposable antifouling clothes, agricultural cloth, furniture cloth, lining of footwear industry, etc.).
The fiber produced by melt blown non-woven technology is very fine (up to 0.25 μ m) , melt blown cloth has large specific surface area, small pores and large porosity, so its application characteristics such as filtration, shielding and oil absorption are difficult for non-woven fabrics produced by other separate processes. Melt blown non-woven fabrics are widely used in medical and health, thermal insulation materials, filter materials and other fields.
