The properties and characteristics of polypropylene fiber PP fiber

(1) Light weight
The density of polypropylene fiber is 0.90-0.92 g / cm3. Among all chemical fibers, polypropylene fiber is relatively light, 20% lighter than nylon, 30% lighter than polyester and 40% lighter than viscose fiber. Therefore, it is very suitable for wadding filler of winter clothing or fabrics such as ski clothes and mountaineering clothes.
(2) High strength, good elasticity, wear resistance and corrosion resistance
Polypropylene fiber has high strength (the same in dry and wet state), which is an ideal material for manufacturing fishing nets and cables; It has good wear resistance and resilience, the strength is similar to that of polyester and nylon, and the resilience is comparable to that of nylon and wool, which is much larger than that of polyester and viscose fibers; Polypropylene fiber has poor dimensional stability, easy pilling and deformation, anti microbial and non moth; Chemical resistance is better than ordinary fibers.
(3) It has electrical insulation and thermal insulation
Polypropylene fiber has high resistivity (7 × 1019 Ω. Cm), low thermal conductivity. Compared with other chemical fibers, polypropylene fiber has good electrical insulation and thermal insulation, but it is easy to generate static electricity during processing.
(4) Poor heat and aging resistance
Polypropylene fiber has low melting point (165 ~ 173 ℃) and poor stability to light and heat. Therefore, polypropylene fiber has poor heat resistance and aging resistance and is not resistant to ironing. But aging resistance can be improved by adding anti aging agent when spinning.
(5) Poor hygroscopicity and dyeability
The hygroscopicity and dyeability of polypropylene fiber are relatively poor in chemical fiber, almost no hygroscopicity, and its moisture regain is less than 0.03%. Fine denier polypropylene fiber has strong wicking effect, and water vapor can be eliminated through the capillary in the fiber. After being made into clothing, the comfort of clothing is better, especially ultra-fine polypropylene fiber. Due to the increase of surface area, it can transfer sweat faster and keep the skin comfortable. Because the fiber is not hygroscopic and the shrinkage is small, polypropylene fabric has the characteristics of easy washing and quick drying.
Polypropylene fiber has poor dyeability, light color and poor color fastness. Ordinary fuels can not be dyed, and most colored polypropylene fibers are produced by pre spinning coloring. Dope coloring and fiber modification can be adopted, and fuel complexing agent can be mixed before melt spinning.
